golly software package provides Game of Life simulator using hashlife algorithm, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install golly
golly is installed in your system.
Make ensure the golly package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep golly *
You will get with golly package name, version, architecture and description in a table
